How to use a template
- Pick your niche and goal in the builder above.
- Copy the caption line into your reel caption, and say it out loud in the video too.
- Copy the keyword into your automation tool as the trigger word.
- Copy the DM and add your own link to the button.
- Test it by commenting the keyword from a second account before you post widely.
The four parts, and why each matters
Most auto DMs fail on one of these, not on the tool:
- The keyword decides how much of your audience triggers the DM at all. Short, distinctive, easy to spell.
- The caption line is the instruction. If it is not in the first line, most viewers never see it.
- The public reply is social proof. Other people scrolling see that commenting actually works.
- The DM should deliver immediately. Put the link in a button rather than buried in a paragraph.
Choosing a keyword that will not misfire
A keyword fires whenever it appears in a comment, so ordinary words cause false triggers. On a metered plan every false trigger costs you a DM.
- Risky: info, link, how, price? (as part of a question), yes, me
- Safe: PRICELIST, FLOORPLAN, DIETPLAN, PRESET, CATER
- Use one keyword per post so you can tell which reel produced which leads.
Lead templates: ask for one thing
When your goal is a lead rather than a link, the DM asks for a phone number or an email before it sends the details. Ask for one, not both, and say what they get in return.

Mistakes these templates avoid
- Asking people to comment a long phrase instead of one word
- Sending three buttons when Instagram allows two
- Sending the link and the image in the same message — send the attachment first, then the text
- Asking for budget or several questions up front, which kills the conversation
- Using the identical message thousands of times instead of varying the wording
FAQ
What is an Instagram auto DM template?
A reusable set of four things: the keyword people comment, the caption line asking them to comment it, the public reply under their comment, and the DM they receive. Using a tested template means you write it once and it works on every reel.
What makes a good trigger keyword?
One short word that would not appear in an ordinary comment. PRICE, VISIT and FLOORPLAN are safe; "info", "link" and "how" fire on normal conversation and waste DMs.
How many buttons can an Instagram DM have?
Two. Every template here uses at most two, because Instagram refuses to send more.
Can I ask for a phone number and an email together?
You can, but you should not. Asking for one detail converts far better. The lead templates above ask for a number or an email, never both.
Are these templates allowed by Instagram?
Yes. Each one replies to someone who commented first, which is what Instagram's official API permits. Sending unprompted DMs to strangers is not allowed and puts your account at risk.
Do I need a tool to use these?
You need an automation tool connected through Meta's official login to send the DMs automatically. You can also reply by hand, which works until a reel does well and you have 300 comments waiting.
Can the DM be in Hindi?
